Blanketing:
You want tot measure from the middle of the chest to the center of the dock. By using inches it will help you have a idea about the size of the blanket.
Different Types of Blankets:
-Stable Blankets: not water proof, but water repellant, quilted, helps keep horse warm in the stall due to limited movement
-Stable Sheets: help keep the horse clean and dust free from being in the stall, made from light fabrics, mostly moisture resistant
- Coolers: help get moisture away from the horse's body, made of wool or synthetic fleece, used on horses that are sweaty or new bathed horses
-Anti Sweat Sheets: made from a cotton blend, placed on sweat or newly bathed horse to keep warm
-Rain Sheets: placed on a horse to keep dry when raining/snowing, not made for turnout
How to put a Blanket on:
-place blanket horses back making sure the front and back are on the right sides.
-first hook the chest strap to make sure first the blanket does not fall off.
-next the belly straps, these should be cross and snug enough that the blanket will not slip off, but not to tight where it is constricting the movements.
-lastly, the legs straps, these should be crossed so that are not hanging very long, they should be place on opposite sides, these help the blankets from falling off.
-To take off, remove the blanket backwards from how you put it on.
-Always fold or hang the blanket to keep it in nice condition.
